As an Emmy® and Golden Globe® nominee, Rob Morrow is a critically acclaimed actor, writer and director with an established career in television, film and theater spanning over three decades. Morrow can currently be seen in John Carney’s “Begin Again” opposite Mark Ruffalo and Keira Knightley. He will next be seen on television on The History Channel in the hotly anticipated miniseries “Texas Rising,” directed by Roland Joffé. Additionally, Morrow is currently developing two television series, an adaptation of Robert Charles Wilson’s Hugo Award-winning novel Spin with Universal Cable Productions and a to-be-announced project with The Weinstein Company.
Morrow shot to stardom with his portrayal of a New York doctor gone to Alaska, Joel Fleischman, on the hit television series “Northern Exposure,” which garnered him three Golden Globe® and two Emmy® Award nominations. He played the iconic role of Don Eppes on the hit CBS drama “Numb3rs,” which ran for six seasons. He also starred on the critically acclaimed Showtime original television series “Street Time,” as well as ABC’s “The Whole Truth” opposite Maura Tierney. His many memorable recurring roles include playing Ari Gold’s attorney Jim Lefkowitz on the hit HBO series “Entourage” and an unassuming arsonist on CBS’s “CSI: NY.”
His other television credits include the TNT movie “The Day Lincoln was Shot” as John Wilkes Booth, Lifetime's “Custody” opposite James Denton, the CBS Hallmark Entertainment miniseries “Only Love” opposite Marisa Tomei, the Showtime movie “The Thin Blue Lie” opposite Randy Quaid and Paul Sorvino and the CBS movie “Jenifer” opposite Laura San Giacomo, Annabella Sciorra, Jane Kaczmarek and Marisa Tomei.
On the feature side, Morrow's credits include “The Good Doctor” opposite Orlando Bloom, Rob Reiner's “The Bucket List” opposite Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, Michael Hoffman's “The Emperor's Club” opposite Kevin Kline, Robert Redford's Oscar® nominated film “Quiz Show” opposite Ralph Fiennes and John Turturro, Daisy von Scherler Mayer's “The Guru” opposite Heather Graham, Albert Brooks' comedy “Mother,” Bruce Beresford's “Last Dance” opposite Sharon Stone and Sean Smith and Anthony Stark's “Into My Heart” opposite Claire Forlani and Jake Weber. He will next be seen as Hank Rearden in the film adaptation of Ayn Rand’s masterpiece “Atlas Shrugged: Who Is John Galt?” and in the film “Loopers,” directed by Jim Valdez.
As a director, Morrow’s credits include multiple episodes of USA’s “Necessary Roughness,” CBS’s “Numb3rs,” Showtime's “Street Time,” CBS's “Joan of Arcadia” and an episode of HBO's crime drama “Oz.” Morrow produced, directed and starred in the pilot “The Grean Teem” with Fisher Stevens. He will next direct an episode of ABC Family’s drama series “The Fosters.” Morrow made his feature directorial debut with “The Silent Alarm,” which premiered at the 1993 Seattle Film Festival and went on to screen at the Hamptons, Boston, Edinburgh and Sundance Film Festivals, with its television debut on Bravo. He also directed “Maze,” an independent feature, which he wrote, produced and co-starred in with Laura Linney in November 2001.
A native New Yorker, Morrow began his theater career working for Tom O'Horgan and Norman Mailer. On stage, Morrow starred in the hit Broadway show The Exonerated, a drama based on the true tales of six innocent death-row inmates, opposite Penn Jillette and Mia Farrow. Morrow also appeared in Third Street at the Circle Repertory Theatre and London's West End production of Birdy. He has also been committed to the theater as a founding member of the nonprofit ensemble Naked Angels, along with Marisa Tomei, Fisher Stevens, Ron Rifkin and Nancy Travis, among others.
Morrow is an accomplished singer and guitarist who performs live with his musical partner Carlos Calvo. The duo frequently appears at WitZend and The Mint in Los Angeles among other venues and toured this past summer in New York and Maine. Morrow is on the Board of Directors of Project ALS. Co‐founded by Jennifer Estess, who was diagnosed with ALS in 1997, Project ALS is committed to funding the research necessary for finding effective treatments and a cure for people living with ALS, a fatal neuromuscular disease.
