English actor Greg Wise has appeared in many British television series and feature films, most notably playing John Willoughby in the 1995 film adaptation of “Sense and Sensibility” alongside Hugh Grant, Kate Winslet and Emma Thompson.

Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, Wise eventually moved to Glasgow where he studied drama at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. His television work includes several period dramas, including the TV movie “The Moonstone,” “Madame Bovary” and, most recently, the miniseries “Cranford.” He has also appeared in ITV’s seven-part drama “Wonderful You,” “Place of Execution,” “Trial & Retribution,” “According to Bex,” “The Buccaneers” and “Taggart.” Wise can also be seen in the TV films “Elizabeth David: A Life in Recipes,” “Hospital” and “The Place of the Dead.”

Wise’s feature film work includes “Mad Cows,” “The Discovery of Heaven,” “Five Moons Plaza,” “Johnny English,” “A Cock and Bull Story” and “The Disappeared.” He has also appeared on stage in Manchester’s The Recruiting Officer, Crimes of Passion, Hampstead Theatre’s Nabobov’s Gloves, and Richard II at the Old Vic Theatre.
Wise is married to actress Emma Thompson.
