Encompassing television, film and stage credits, Ms. Baxter is best recognized for her role as the beloved mother on the hit television series “Family Ties.” Getting her start with television series, Ms. Baxter is also credited with “Bridget Loves Bernie” and “Family,” for which she received an Emmy nomination. She also received Emmy nominations for each of her leading roles in “A Woman Scorned: The Betty Broderick Story,” for the sequel, “Her Final Fury: Betty Broderick, The Last Chapter,” and for “Other Mothers.” Realizing the power of being behind and in front of the camera, Ms. Baxter created M. Baxter Productions where she starred in, as well as executive produced the television movies “Darkness Before Dawn,” “My Breast,” “Betrayed: The Story of Three Women” and “The Long Journey Home.” Ms. Baxter’s stage credits include “Guys and Dolls,” “Talley’s Folly,” “The Diaries of Adam and Eve” and “Vanities.” Feature film credits consist of “Miracle on the 17th Green,” “Down Will Come Baby” and a cameo role alongside Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman in the famous film, “All the President’s Men.” In addition to portraying strong women in front of the camera, off camera Ms. Baxter executes equal the duty. She speaks out on women’s rights issues, of the most important, women’s breast cancer. In support of this, she created the Meredith Baxter Foundation for Breast Cancer Research wherein a portion of the profits from a skincare line she created go to.
