Mary-Louise Parker majored in drama at the North Carolina School of the Arts. She made her Broadway debut in 1990 in Craig Lucas' "Prelude to a Kiss," for which she received a Tony Award nomination. In 2001, she won the Tony Award for her "Catherine" in David Auburn's "Proof" (John Simon: "a performance of genius"). Parker's many notable films include "Grand Canyon" (Danny Glover & Kevin Kline), "Fried Green Tomatoes" (Kathy Bates & Jessica Tandy), "Bullets Over Broadway" (John Cusack & Dianne Weist), "The Client" (Susan Sarandon & Tommy Lee Jones), "Boys on the Side" (Whoopi Goldberg), "Reckless" (Mia Farrow), "The Portrait of a Lady" (Nicole Kidman & Viggo Morgensen), "The Assassination of Jesse James" by the Coward Robert Ford (Brad Pitt & Casey Affleck), and "RED 2" (Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, & Catherine Zeta-Jones). Mary-Louise Parker received an Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award for her work in Tony Kushner's "Angels in America" and another Golden Globe for her Nancy Botwin in "Weeds." This is her fourth Hallmark Hall of Fame film. She was also in "A Place for Annie" (1994), "Saint Maybe" (1998), and "Cupid & Cate" (2000).
