Stefanie von Pfetten was born to German parents in Vancouver, British Columbia and spent much of her childhood in Europe. She got her first taste of the stage starring in her high school's production of Grease before following her interest in art history to a university in Munich (she is multi-lingual, and fluent in German), and then to the University of Vienna for intensive study and a job with Sotheby’s.
Still drawn to perform, von Pfetten returned to Vancouver to formally train in theater and dedicate herself to acting. She attracted immediate attention for guest-starring roles on numerous Canadian television shows, including “Seven Days” and 2004’s “Decoys,” before moving to Los Angeles.
Some of von Pfetten’s television credits include roles on “The Net,” “The Sentinel,” “First Wave,” “The Twilight Zone,” “CSI: Miami,” “Andromeda,” “The L Word,” “Battlestar Galactica,” “Eureka,” “NCIS” and “Better Off Ted.” Von Pfetten has also had roles on many television movies, including “Too Late to Say Goodbye” for Lifetime, “Confessions of a Sociopathic Socialite” for Oxygen Network and “Christmas Caper” for ABC Family, among many others.
Von Pfetten recently appeared as the goddess Demeter in last year’s blockbuster “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightening Thief” and will appear in “Garden of Evil,” co-starring with “Heroes” star Adrian Pasdar for Syfy Channel. She can handle a horse and a gun, and she is active in dog rescue.
