Katharine McPhee was born and raised in Los Angeles, later attending Boston Conservatory for musical training. She gained fame as a winning contestant on the fifth season of "American Idol." Her first album, "Katharine McPhee," was released early in 2007, debuting as number two on the Billboard 200 chart. Her second album, "Unbroken," was released in 2010, followed by the holiday-themed "Christmas Is the Time to Say I Love You."
McPhee's acting career includes co-starring roles in the features "The House Bunny," "Shark Night 3D," and "You May Not Kiss the Bride." She guest-starred on "CSI: NY" and "Community" and appeared opposite Debra Messing and Anjelica Huston in the NBC series "Smash" about a group of artists who mount a Broadway musical inspired by Marilyn Monroe.
