Melissa Sue Anderson was noted to be very like her on-screen character, much preferring to remain in the background rather than in the limelight. Her break came when a dance teacher urged her parents to get an agent for their blonde, blue-eyed daughter and soon she was in demand for shows like The Brady Bunch and Shaft.
